It was a Common Night
On the last night that she lived,
It was a quiet, unlit night.
Except for the ticking of a clock,
Made time different afterward.
That others could exist,
While she must finish quite fast.
We waited while she passed,
It was a time of sorrows.
Too shocked were our souls to speak,
At length the sad news came.
And we patted the silver grey hair,
And touched the head at rest.
Our faith quivered to regulate,
Then lightly swept silently away.

Update...changes made to my poem again...Laura
On Golden Shores
In Memory of Marion Florence Whatley
O happy hours we once enjoyed,
remembrance is a golden chain.
Sad and sudden was the call,
past her suffering, past her pain.
A flower the Creator of life gave us,
A wonderful mother, grandmother.
We all dearly love, and we miss,
Marion Florence Whatley.
Borne away from sin and sorrow,
to a calm, and peaceful shore.
Christ shall clasp thine hand,
and lead thee to a better place.

Golden Memories
In Memory of Marion Florence Whatley
When morning sun peeks out,
behind a hidden cloud.
When evening shades are falling,
day by day we'll miss her more.
Borne away past pain and sorrow,
from our earthly home and circle.
Peaceful be thy rest, dear grandmother,
safe in the arms of Jesus at last.
Some day we hope to meet again,
our sweet little flower of heavenly birth.
Sweet memories will last forever,
nothing can ever take them away.
Sunshine fades and shadows fall,
but our love for you will never disappear.
The loneliness without you here,
your loving face we hope to glimpse.
