Marianne Kipper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 19 to Dec. 25, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Marianne B. Kipper, devoted wife, loving mother and cherished friend. Marianne departed this world on December 14, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 18, 1939, Marianne was a beacon of warmth and compassion. She graced our lives with her kindness, grace, and unwavering love. She was a pillar of strength, a source of comfort, and the heartbeat of our family.

As a devoted wife, Marianne and Richard E. Kipper shared a journey that transcended more than 45 years. She had two children from her first marriage, John Byrn Caple (Wendy, Hailey, Chase) and Merrimac Caple Penman (Robert, Alex, Maggie) and her stepson, Gregory Alan Kipper (Amber, Azure, McCoy, Grant). She was proceeded in death by her parents, Charles Nelson Byrn & Margaret McIver Byrn, and her brothers Charles and Donald.

Marianne & Dick's love was an enduring flame that weathered life's challenges and illuminated the path of togetherness. Through the highs and lows, they stood side by side, creating a legacy of love, resilience, and unbreakable bonds. In addition to being a loving wife, Marianne was an extraordinary mother and grandmother (Granny). Her nurturing spirit and boundless love created a home filled with love and an abundance of cherished memories. Her guidance and wisdom shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Marianne had an innate ability to forge connections with everyone she met. She was infectious, bringing joy to countless gatherings and celebrations. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine interest in others endeared her to a wide circle of friends. Her presence lit up any room, and her intellect and warmth were admired by her many friends. She loved to travel (she traveled to every continent but Lake Powell was always her favorite) and play bridge. She particularly enjoyed Fridays with her "Bridge Nutz". Marianne was very philanthropic, committed to supporting cancer research, successfully raising significant sums of money over the past two decades for the American Cancer Society.

In her professional life, Marianne was a research chemist, graduating from Chatham College and then with a PhD from the University of California Berkeley. She worked for over 25 years at the University of California Los Angeles. Her dedication and passion for chemistry left an enduring impact on those fortunate enough to work alongside her.

As we mourn the physical absence of Marianne, let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts and memories of those she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Chatham University or the Great West Division of American Cancer Society reflecting Marianne's commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

A celebration of Marianne's life will be held at a future date.

May Marianne's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
