Marianne Poletti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 11, 2024.
Marianne Adel Poletti (Maroney), age 88, entered the Lord's eternal presence on January 9, 2024. She was born to a father of Irish descent, John Maroney, and a mother of Polish descent, Marion (Ignasjewski), at the Wyckoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn, New York on December 22, 1935. As the oldest of 10 children and her father's occupation as a New York City policeman, she often helped with household duties growing up. Prior to marrying, Marianne was a candidate to join the Sisters of Mercy as a catholic nun. She volunteered at the Free Catholic Library where she met Robert E. Poletti and married on October 12, 1957. Before the young couple left NYC to pursue Robert's new work assignments, they had two children, Robert and Bernadette. Her husband's assignments had the couple living in various states (Idaho, South Dakota, Colorado, California) where they had two more children, James and Donna. Work moved the family to York, PA where they finally settled and had three more children, Daniel, Michael, and David. Marianne worked at Hickory Farms and as a Tupperware salesperson where she ascended to district manager. She was active in the community and an advocate for the rights of the unborn. She loved to garden, bake, give lots of hugs, watch John Wayne movies, play bingo, and attend gatherings with friends and family. She was known for her love of life, sense of humor, the ability to make friends with complete strangers, and her strong faith in Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. Robert and Marianne were married for 63 years until Robert passed on March 6, 2021 at 94 years old. She is survived by her 7 children, 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and siblings Barbara and Eddie. She was proceeded in death by her husband; and siblings Matthew, John, Joanne, Michael, Thomas, Daniel, and Ginny.

A Celebration of Life is planned to be held on January 30th at Yorkshire Church in York, PA. Marianne will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

One of my favorite things to do with Marianne: pushing her around the neighborhood -she waved to everyone !

I don´t think I can find the words to truly express how much I miss Marianne, but I know she will always hold a special place in my heart along with all the fond & cherished memories. From the moment we first met she always made me feel like I was an important, integral part of the family. I feel extremely fortunate to have known her and truly blessed to have had the opportunity to have her as my mother-in-law, in essence my second mom. It has never been easy for me living so far away from home and family. As the years passed by, I had always looked forward to our annual visits to York, which included being greeted with Marianne`s warm smile and comforting embrace. It was her bright bubbly personality which made our family visits such a special time,..along with our frequent jaunts to Rita´s ice cream shop, our hikes in Rocky Ridge park, and our fun times at the putt putt golf. She had the ability to always put a smile on my face no matter the situation, in good times and bad. I will always remember her for the love, joy, and warmth that she carried in her heart on a daily basis...and she never failed to extend her love with open arms to all those around her. It´s the little things like this, which have meant so much to me and I will forever truly miss!
I feel remorseful that I didn´t have the opportunity to give her a proper goodbye, but at the same time, I am eternally grateful knowing that heaven will bring us all back together once again.
Ps... on this final note, I cannot finish without also paying tribute to Bob as he was a much loved part of the dynamic duo and he is truly missed as well!

I knew Marianne through Bernie & Terry. I am Terry´s mother. Just to mention a few things Marianne loved were people & going to baseball games. She loved going to watch Hellam play when Terry was manager. I had the privilege of caring for her a couple times & enjoyed our time together. I´m attaching a picture of her & Bernie at a Rev´s game that Bernie & Terry took her to see. Rip my friend

I had the privilege of helping with Marianne's care. We enjoyed her hallmark movies, reading sales papers and sitting outside. It was my pleasure to know both Marianne and Bob, and Poletti family.Rest in peace, I love u always.

I remember meeting her and Bob for the first time in Myrtle Beach when Dave and I were dating. She was so full of joy and seemed thankful for even the little things. She knew how to make you feel special from the minute you met her. Marianne never treated me like a daughter-in-law but rather like a daughter. She never let us leave for home without lots of hugs and prayers. I learned so much about the power of prayer from Marianne. I will be forever grateful that she didn't stop at six kids because I wouldn't have Dave and my boys if she had. She and Bob both demonstrated that the joy of the Lord is truly where our strength comes from. Now they're together again and with the real love of their life, Jesus!
