Maribel Cullen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2008.
Maribel Buaas Cullen Maribel Buaas Cullen, 89, of Buda passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2008, going home to be with her Lord. Maribel was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 6, 1918. At a very young age her family moved to the Austin area where she graduated from Austin High School. She married the love of her life, Clarence C. Cullen, on June 19, 1937. She was preceded in death by Clarence but not before celebrating 56 years of marriage. Maribel loved spending time with family, friends, watching birds, especially her hummingbirds at their feeder, her four pampered sheep, gardening, a good game of 42 dominos, and just loved life in general. She was a very active member of the Buda community until recent years. Maribel was a faithful member of Buda United Methodist Church, enjoyed working at the Buda schools and also at the Buda Library, only to name of few of her accomplishments. Among what she counted as her greatest accomplishments in life were the three children she and Clarence were blessed to have. Daughter, Nancy Logan of Buda, husband Jesse; son, Pat Cullen of Wyoming, wife Sherri; and son Frank Cullen of Buda, wife Renee. Those unions increased the family by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include Kelly Logan, Chris Logan and Fred Cummins, Joan Logan and Renee Villeneuve, Amy and Kelly Artery, Kim Cullen, Donnie and Lisa Stern, and Crystal and Steven Cox. Great-grandchildren include Christopher Kyle and Rebecca Logan, Cullen Logan, Morgan Vaughn, Taylor Vaughn, and Clint Stern. Maribel is also survived by many other close relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home at 2620 South Congress, Austin. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8th, at Buda United Methodist Church, Buda, Texas with burial at Live Oak Cemetery. Maribel had a great love of flowers. The family also welcomes memorial donations to the charity of your choice. Memorials and guestbook online at wcfish.com

My sympathy to the Cullen family. Mrs. Cullen was a wonderful lady and a wonderful friend to our mother. I always enjoyed listening to her talk. She was a Buda icon and will be missed.
