Marie Ace Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 5, 2025.
Marie Ann (DiMuccio) Ace, 74, of East Liverpool, OH, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2025, surrounded with love from her husband, Max, and three daughters, Melissa, Eryn, and Loriann.

Born on April 27, 1950, and raised in New Castle, PA, to Joseph and Antonette (Zona) DiMuccio, Marie was the baby of the family and is survived by her three older brothers: Angelo "Sonny" (Cathy), Joseph "Jojo," and Edward "Eddie" (Betty Ann). She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Gracie.

Marie met the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Max Ace, in 1971 and, following their marriage on February 26, 1972, they eventually settled in East Liverpool where they raised their three daughters, Melissa (Ray) Boyd, Eryn (Greg) Fuhrer, and Loriann (Cody) Francis. They were also blessed with five grandchildren, Antonette "Annie", Zachary, Grayson, Giovanna "Gia", and Leonardo "Leo".

Marie found her calling as a mom to their three girls. When they were young, she would sew matching dresses and in high school she relished making all the girls' Sadie Hawkins outfits. Marie's girls affectionately remember her love of dress shopping and preparing for all formal events like school dances and their weddings.

Marie worked for St. Aloysius preschool for 22 years and was adored by her students, and the school and church community. She retired in 2006 when her first grandchild was born. Marie said she knew it was time to retire when she had a preschool student who was a child of a former preschool student.

Once she became a grandparent, she began to go by "Nonni". And she was the best Nonni. She and Max, now called "Papa", completely dedicated themselves to their grandkids. They loved nothing more than to host sleepovers with their older grandkids, Annie and Zachary, and take their youngest granddaughter, Gia, to the Dutch Haus. Her youngest grandchild, Leo, changed her nickname to "Goggi" when he first started to talk. Marie was adamant that nobody corrected him, and he will always remember his Goggi.

Marie was always talking about her grandchildren, and because of that, she was able to make a connection to a therapy center through a high school friend for her grandson, Grayson. Because of this, she was able to hear him talk and say his ABCs.

Marie's treasured nieces, nephews, and extended family will always be thankful for her passion for hosting and bringing people together. She worked tirelessly to host annual parties for Christmas, the 4th of July, and even for Ohio State vs Penn State football games. She would make sure there was so much food that everyone could have three servings of everything and take home leftovers. But if you asked Marie, there still wasn't enough.

Friends may call at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill Street, New Castle, PA for visitation on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A blessing service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home with Fr Aaron Kriss officiating. Online condolences maybe shared at www.decarbofh.com.
