To Marie and Hugh's family I offer my sincere and heartfelt sympathy. A grievous loss in such a short time. But, what wonderful memories of love, friendship, dedication and trust, the finest of legacies.
My friendship with Marie started with our involvement with the Elizabeth Fry fifty odd years ago. Our conversations always emphasised the strengths of people and the positive way in which a situation could be handled. Marie was always gracious, welcoming and a joy to know, a true blessing.
How fortunate I am to have known and enjoyed such companionship.
My love and thoughts are with you all.

Hello dear Leggs,

A truly wonderful person is no longer here. Marie was so kind and so strong. I will forever feel inspired by her example, especially in the ways she spoke out for what she believed, loved her family, cared about her friends, baked the best bread, etc., etc. She was my mom's very best friend and for a brief time she was my "mom" when my folks were overseas. I cherish many memories...not the least of which is when she and I would sit down with a pot of tea, toast and honey to watch Sesame Street every afternoon while I was part of the Legg household in 1971.

I wish you all the grace and surety that Marie's indomitable spirit lives on, both in you and around you.

I have tried to upload a photo of your mom and mine to this site, but I don't think it's working. In the photo they are both wearing plastic rain bonnets and grinning ear to ear. Lord knows what mischief they were planning. (They were such great pals!)

With love to you all!
Patty

Ian and I enjoyed our visit with your Mom a few weeks ago. She was a great friend to Mom and Dad Chapman - and our favourite!

My thoughts are with all you kids and your families - we are all orphans now, but having each other and so many wonderful memories of our Judges(dads), their fairness and our ever faithful, patient and witty mums, helps the sorrow diminish as the years go by and more and more of the good times come back to give us a loving smile of remembrance.

To all the extended Legg family, my sincere condolences. Auntie Ree was exactly as she is shown in the photo: gracious, full of life, and above all, laughter. Writing this, I am reminded how she and Mom would talk on the phone until they were laughing so hard that they had to hang up. May the memory of Ree's laughter comfort in the coming days
