Marie Mark Obituary
Born on April 28, 1955, Marie dedicated her life to academia and her community, significantly impacting those around her through her work and involvement with her church.
Marie earned her doctorate degree from The Graduate Center, CUNY, in New York, NY. She was a Sociology professor and administrator at institutions including St. John's University, Drew University, and Adelphi University.
Beyond her professional life, she was deeply involved in her community, attending Church on the Hill in Flushing, NY. Her faith and dedication to her community were evident in her service and participation in church activities including the homeless shelter, auctions, harvest festivals, and congregational survey.
A strong woman who persevered through challenges, Marie was known for her resilience and strength. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, listening to Elvis and cheering on the NY Mets. An enjoyable meal consisted of two things: a rare steak (cooked as little as possible) and a Captain Morgan & Coke.
Marie is survived by her husband, Frederick Mark; her brothers, George P. Reeth Jr. and Mark Reeth; her son, Justin Mark; and her granddaughter, Iliana Anna-Marie Mark (her middle name being a joint tribute to Marie's mother and Marie herself). Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Marie Brennan and George P. Reeth Sr.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 10:00 AM at Church on the Hill, located at 167-07 35th Ave., Flushing, NY 11358. A Committal Service will be held at 12:00 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735.
Marie's life was a testament to her values and the love she had for her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marie Mark, a devoted member of The Church on the Hill, along with her husband, Rick, were an integral part of the annual auctions that took place there. Her friendship to others and devotion to the many activities at church were beyond measure. We offer our condolences to Rick and family. May she rest in Peace.
