MARIE POBURAN Obituary
(nee Longchamp)
Marie Dolores Poburan (nee Longchamp) born in 1932 in St. Paul, Alberta. Marie passed away March 2, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
She leaves to mourn her three sons, Brent, Chris (Elizabeth), and Jim and three grandchildren: Jennifer (Corey) Smith, Denver, and Molly Poburan. She also leaves her sisters, Patricia Lytwyn from Vancouver and Suzanne Slevinsky from Edmonton and her brother, Robert (Annette) Longchamp from St. Paul, Alberta.
Marie was predeceased by her loving husband Peter whom she was married for 48 years. Peter passed away in March of 2002, her sister, Adele Van Brabant who passed away in February of 2010 and her father, Jean-Baptiste Longchamp in June of 1962 and her mother, Georgianna Tremblay- Longchamp in October of 1998.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Angela Mercici, 13210 - 133 A Avenue, Edmonton, AB at 10:00 a.m.
Marie had an outstanding career (34 years) in education where she taught elementary school and culminated her career serving as Principal of French Immersion Schools in St. Albert - it is noteworthy to mention that St. Albert Catholic Schools named the school Ecole Marie Poburan in her honour to celebrate her accomplishments and retirement.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

I absolutely adored Madam Poburan. I spent way too much time in her office during elementary school but she always treated me with love and fondness. Her life touched mine in such a positive way- what a beautiful soul!

To all of Marie's family, we wish to express our most sincere condolences at the passing of this outstanding lady. Our fond memories of Marie go back to her first year as a teaching colleague at St. Paul Elementary School, always dedicated to her students. Incredible memories of a equally incredible lady. Marie made a huge difference in the lives of so many. We speak of her often and are thoughts are with her family at this time. Marie was infectious in all she did. A real leader for so many and she left big shoes to fill.

All four of our children attended Ecole Marie Poburan and we will always remember the events that included the school's namesake. It's nice to know that her name and legacy will live on and influence children for the years to come.
