Marie Theisen will be remembered for the love she had in taking care of her family. When her sons were young, Marie enjoyed being Den Mother of their Cub Scout Pack. She was also an active supporter of her daughter's Swim Teams. After becoming a Grandmother, she treasured the times spent with her grandchildren. Marie was born March 23. 1923 in the Town of Sumpter, Wisconsin to the late Joseph and Ursula (Hoelzlhammer) Greimel. After graduating from Sauk City High School, Marie was proud to have worked in Milwaukee in the war industry during WW II. On September 6, 1952 she married her High School Classmate, Henry N. Theisen. They were married at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City, WI. Henry's career allowed Marie and Henry to make their home in several different locations. They started their life together in San Francisco, CA, and soon thereafter moved to New York City, NY. After "baby Henry" was born they decided to move back to WI so they would be closer to Grandparents. Marie and Henry moved to Rothschild, WI to raise their family. It wasn't until 1979 that they again moved, taking the youngest son with them, to the State of Washington. After Henry retired, they moved back to Sauk City, WI. After Henry passed away, Marie moved closer to her children, relocating to Rib Mountain, WI. Marie had many interests, including reading, gardening, traveling, listening to polka music, playing the accordion, and most of all spending time with her family, especially "up north." At the age of 88, Marie passed away at her Rib Mountain home on Friday April 29. Survivors include her children Henry J. (Kim) of Neenah, Richard (Julie) of Rib Mountain, Carol Wynn of Rib Mountain, John (Cheryl) of Rhinelander. Her seven Grandchildren include Michele (Eric) Martin, Jamie Theisen, Amanda (John) Broberg, Sarah Theisen, Katie (Michael) Klapperich, Jordan and Cale Henk. Sister in law Marilyn (John) Hoelzlhammer, Brother in law Robert (Trudi) Theisen, nieces and nephews Mike Greimel, Mark Greimel, Tim Theisen, Tom(Jean) Theisen, Jennifer (Doug) Gjertson, Toni (Chris)Gomoll. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Henry on December 31, 1994, her brother John Greimel, and nephew Mitchell Greimel. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. Father Gerald Pehler OFM Cap. will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 09:30 AM until the time of the Mass. On Wednesday, May 4, 2011 visitation will continue at 11:00 AM and conclude with a Noon prayer service at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, WI.
