Marilyn Asmus Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2006.
Marilyn R. Asmus, 77, of LeClaire, Iowa, departed this world on Saturday, October 14, 2006, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the Infisherman's Club of the Quad-City Conservation Alliance or to River Action of Davenport.
Marilyn was born June 27, 1929, in Davenport, the daughter of John and Ruth Gugelmeyer. She was united in marriage to Virgil E. Asmus on August 6, 1949, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1973. Marilyn loved her home along the Mississippi River. She enjoyed fishing and baking and nurturing the various animals that would frequent her yard.
She had a boisterous personality and loved a good hearty laugh, which will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a fine example of how to live a simple life.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Wendy Bloomingdale and her husband, Randy, of LeClaire; her son, Matthew Asmus, and his wife, Lisa, of Dubuque, Iowa; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Phyllis McDermott and her husband, Bud, of Clinton, Iowa, and Carol Power and her husband, Jack, of Davenport; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving friends.
In addition to her husband, Virgil, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting Marilyn's obituary at www.McGinnis-Chambers.com.
