Marilyn "Cookie" Sheldon

Cookie Sheldon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Celebration, Florida, at the age of 83.

Born on July 17, 1942, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Cookie grew up in Mukwonago, where she attended Mukwonago High School before pursuing her passion for helping others in nursing school. She dedicated 23 years to her nursing career while raising her family and building lifelong friendships in Mukwonago. Upon retirement, Cookie and her devoted husband of sixty years, Gary Sheldon, moved to Haines City, Florida, where they continued to create cherished memories with their children and grandchildren.

Cookie's warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. A lifelong caregiver and advocate, she was a source of love, support, and acceptance for family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones. Proud of her Wisconsin roots, Cookie was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and sharing stories about her grandchildren. If there was a baby in the room, invariably it would be in Cookie's arms. Cookie's legacy of kindness, understanding, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Cookie is survived by her loving husband, Gary Sheldon; her son Bart Sheldon and his wife, Meghan; her daughter Pamela Sanchez and her husband, Luis; and her son Richard Sheldon and his wife, Rena. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Kendell and Brett Sanchez; Jake, Peyton, Anne Marie (and her husband, Giovanni Silva), Nicole, and Michael Sanchez; and her great-grandchildren: Lazarus, Edith, Gabriella, Josephina, Gloria, and Ambrose Silva. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and in the memories of all those she touched throughout her life.

A memorial service is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 4th of October, at the First Christian Church at 705 S 14th St in Haines City. All are invited to greet the family in the fellowship hall, directly after the service.
