Marilyn A. Hayden of Berwyn Heights, MD left this earth on July 2, 2023. She was born October 6, 1938, to the late William and Rosetta Bussan, raised in a family of sisters: Jean (deceased), Rose, Patricia (deceased), and Terrie. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson, and her son Thomas. She leaves behind three children: Michael (Vicki), Joan and Stephen (Andrea); five grandchildren: Michael Jr. (Joelle), Eric (Keri), Christopher (Rose), Kyle (Tania) and Kaitlyn; and eight great-grandchildren: Sophia, Brooke, Jaxson, Cole, Blake, Nora, Clark and Delaney.
Marilyn was a homemaker, taking care of her husband, raising her children and spending a lot of time taking her grandchildren on adventures across Southern Maryland. Marilyn enjoyed spending time in the Allegany Mountains in Garrett County and traveling with her family. National/State parks, antique shops, flea markets, car shows, NASCAR race shops and BBQ joints were frequent destinations. At home, she enjoyed watching her soaps on TV and indulging her sweet tooth. She also cared deeply for her community, volunteering at the library and events such as Berwyn Heights May Day, Election Day and her church’s yard sales.
Marilyn’s kindness, generous spirit, big heart and voice of reason will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm at Gasch’s Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD on Sunday, July 9. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 10 at 10 am at St. Hugh Catholic Church, 135 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, MD.
