This time when I visit you at your final resting place I will plant Lilacs because I remember you telling me when I was just a lil girl and I picked some dandelions and I gave them to you you told me they were the most beautiful flowers anyone ever gave you which led to me asking you what your favorite flower was you said Lilacs were your favorite.

To my dear Mother,

Just want to share my thoughts today -

I don’t remember if our house was new or old or big or small.

I don’t remember if we had a fancy car, or if we had to take the train or bus.

I don’t remember if the house was clean and tidy or if it was covered in washing piles and scattered toys and lots of magazines.

I don’t remember if my clothes were new or second hand or if I had the latest new toy or very best shoes and clothes.

I don’t remember if you were always dressed up or if your face was bare, it always looked perfect to me.

I don’t remember if we had a lot of money or whether we lived pay check to pay check.

I don’t remember if we went out every day or went on expensive vacations.

I don’t remember how sometimes you got angry or cried or had to walk out of the room to take a breath or ask for peace and quiet.

I don’t remember a schedule, a checklist or any expectations other than just you just being there.

What I do remember is feeling safe and loved.

I remember your comfort and how you kept me warm and a roof over my head.

I remember your comforting face above me when I cried for something.

I remember you would feed me when I was hungry, and take care of me when I was hurt or sad.

I remember your smell and how it would send me off to sleep, sometimes at 8:00pm or even upon waking up at 2:00am.

I remember your smile, it was the first reason I smiled and can still smile.

I remember how you played with me and got down on the ground with me, and taught me how to play and to share and to be kind.

I remember you taught me about love and patience before anything else and how it was my constant. And how my Grandma was always there to show love too.

I remember knowing it was the only thing I ever really needed and you gave that to me, I never had to work for it, I couldn’t see it or touch it but I knew it was there. And i knew it was hard sometimes for you.

Thank you for teaching me that love has no limits, that it’s unconditional and honest and built on trust.

This is what I will always

I Hope you are surrounded by all the people you Loved and I Pray you Are at Peace. Selfish as it may be I wish you were still here and I had more time to make up to you for all the ways I failed you as a daughter.
I know you Love me and Forgave me because you told me you did and I will treasure that Forever. I thank God that you are not here to witness all that is happening I know you would be so disappointed. I also thank God that You didn't spend the last days of your life alone in a nursing home to die surrounded by strangers.
I now know why you chose to stay in your own home and I am so Grateful to Joe for taking care of you. I know you knew that he Loved you and did his Best and so do I. You did it your way and whoever didn't like it TOUGH!!!

Grandma, My heart is so broken to know that you aren't here anymore. I'm so sad and I'm trying not to be because I know you wouldn't want me to be but I already miss you so much. I know you tried your hardest to fight like you always do, but you're not in pain anymore. I've never met someone so strong like you.You did everything, always by yourself and had no help from not a single person. I've always admired how strong willed you are, I've definitely gained that and a bit your stubbornness . You've been such an important part of my life because you were both my grandma and my grandpa and i will always love you for that and I will miss you. The world will never be the same with out you. Until we meet again. I love you.

I'm going to miss Thanksgiving most. Watching you do the happy food dance when dinner was ready, and then playing games like Boggle or Scattergories and laughing. Those times are forever burned in my memory. Rest In Peace Grandma, you were truly one of kind!
