Marilyn Nolan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 22, 2023.
Our dear mother and "Grammy" Marilyn Nolan (nee Smith) passed away February 18, 2023, at the age of 78 after a long struggle with dementia. Survivors include her sons Kevin Nolan, Christopher (Sue) Nolan, and Shawn (Jennifer) Nolan; four grandchildren, Moira (Ethan), Quinn, Connor, and Alex; a great-grandchild to be born July 2023; and long-time partner Alan Hansen. She was preceded in death by brother Dennis Smith, parents George and Evelyn Smith (nee Kruczynski), and grandson Patrick Nolan.

Marilyn grew up in the Clearing neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Providence High School in 1962. Working for decades in hospital emergency rooms and medical offices, Marilyn provided a warm, assuring presence to patients and families. She was filled with vitality and enjoyed trips to Jamaica, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Wisconsin. She loved spending time in her garden and caring for her koi pond and beloved dogs. She had an easy laugh and a loving heart and truly adored sharing time with her children and grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, March 8th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Naperville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association in Marilyn's memory at http://act.alz.org/goto/marilyncnolan.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bella Terra Lombard, for the loving care and friendship they provided Marilyn.

My deepest sympathy to Marilyn´s family. Marilyn and I worked together at LaGrange Memorial Hospital back in the 80´s. We kept in touch for all these years even after I moved to Arizona we kept in touch by frequent phone calls. She was the sweetest friend . I have wonderful memories that I will cherish. Rest well Marilyn until we meet again. God Bless!

Just reading the obituary brings back so many memories. Some to feel sad about but mostly laugh about. We had the best times together although it was many years ago. Condolences to the whole family.
