Dorothy Manning Obituary
McAlisterville
Dorothy J. Manning, 92, formerly of Newport, passed away Monday October 30, 2017 at North Ridge Personal Care Home in McAlisterville where she had been a resident since 2004. She was born December 9, 1924 in Millerstown to George and Violet (McGowan) Bitner. She was a member of Hope Eternal Church, Amaranth and Newport American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy was the widow of Robert E. Manning and is survived by her son, Robert L. Manning (Barbara) of Lebanon; daughter, Susan Knode (Theodore) of Millerstown; grandchildren, Meade Hahn III and Billi (Gerald) Walton; and great-grandchildren, Arykah Hahn, Kiera, Alli and Kamryn Walton. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Meade (Bill) Hahn II; twin brother, George S. (Jim) Bitner; and sisters, Esther Norris and Neoma Thebes.
Services will be held on Saturday from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a visitation from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 12 p.m. with the Pastor Jean McCleary officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Susquehanna Service Dogs, 1078 Gravel Hill Road, Grantville PA 17028.

I had the pleasure of being able to spend time with Dot everyday at North Ridge Center. I also had the honor of being able to help take care of her before leaving us for a better place. Dot was so easy to talk to and she had such a quick wit and great sense of humor that I don't think a day went by that we didn't laugh at something. She had an infectious smile. One smile from her and you couldn't help but feel better. We know Dot had her own family, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews but to us at North Ridge she was OUR Dot and she was so loved by us all. She will never be forgotten and will be so greatly missed.
