Dearest Mrs. Montez, Feliz, and entire Montez family,
Our deepest condolences, Dear Ones. Mario and Tommy were wonderful friends to my brother, Daniel Lujan! WONDERFUL memories of our westside years come to mind.
Most recently, Nemo had a grand time with Mario at golf tournament in Fowler. Yes, Mario loved golf so much. Nemo said they had a wonderful talk catching up on old times. May the peace of God give you strength during this difficult time. Deepest sympathy to Mario´s wife and family.

I will always remember Mario as a quiet, gentle, kind friend in Jr and Sr high schools. He was such a lovable person-as he will remain in my heart until we meet again.

I met Mario Montez in 6th grade at Irving Elementary. He came from Hyde Park Elementary which was located in the deep west side. All the kids from Hyde Park came to Irving to complete elementary school as 6th graders. Mario was different. He was cool and he was a truly gifted basketball player. He had an amazing 3 point shot from the corner that was impossible to defend. He was kind of quiet around other people but around us he was funny and very observant. The chicks seemed to dig Mario.
I would hang out with Mario less than others in the group because he was often busy practicing playing basketball but, during the off season, he was all ours. He could dribble and shoot circles around me so I had to foul him to slow him down. He took it in stride and often laughed about it. When he wanted, he would take over a game and win for his team. He was on the High School basketball team but he wasn't too cool to hang with us. He was silly like the rest of us. He didn´t have the machismo attitude but he was not one to mess with.
I have so many memories and stories of our time in high school and he will be sorely missed. He is one of the good ones.
