I remember being 4 and 5 years old and living in Charleroi, and my mom would have "Dialing for Dollars" on the tv. I remember peddling my little red fire truck through the house and I'd see Del Taylor on the tv. That's how I remember him.

I had the pleasure of working with Del at WTAE in the early 70s when had his radio show. Always professional and a gentleman.

My Italian grandma and I spent many hours watching Del Taylor on Dialing for Dollars (when I was young). She was a big fan. And those memories are still beautiful ones. Thanks to Mr. Del Vecchio for being such a wonderful TV personality.

One of the nicest people I have ever known. I was an engineer at WTAE Channel 4 in 1979 and '80 and talked to Del many times. He was always very approachable and friendly. We'd be chatting outside the announcer's booth when he would dash inside for 10 seconds, make the announcement, then slip back out and never miss a beat in the conversation. What a marvelous personality!

I grew up on Princeton Drive where he lived for a while. When he hosted Bandstand my sister went down one Sat and were on the show. And as I recall we were interviewed by him. Good memories of a good man. May he rest in peace. He is probably in the section of heaven with the rest of the WWII vets reliving their adventures. Reading his obit was the first I learned that he was in the ETO. Typical of his generation. They went to war, did what they had to do, and came home to raise a family and get on with life. But they did not talk about the war.
