Marion Marshall Obituary

Marion Barbara Marshall died on August 14 in Springfield, Va. Marion was born on September 9, 1933, in Rock Island to Alma and Charles Dudley Marshall Sr. She was the devoted younger sister of Dorothy Marshall Dain and Charles Dudley Marshall Jr. (deceased). Marion was the Salutatorian of Rock Island High School and graduated from Carleton College. She took the U.S. Government Management Program and was highly recruited for a position in technology. Marion moved to the D.C. area and began her career. She later obtained her Masters in Library Science from the University of Chicago.
Marion was a librarian in the Arlington and Fairfax County Library Systems. She then went to work for one of the leading authorities on taxes, The Tax Analyst. She became their foremost tax librarian. Her work on the International Tax Treaties of all governments became The Tax Analyst's best selling product.
Marion was active in the Episcopal Church. In her retirement, she was very involved with volunteering as an English as Second Language Instructor, a relief organization for the less fortunate in Fairfax County, and with her book clubs. Marion had many friends in the D.C. area. She will be missed by her many friends, work colleagues, her sister, Dorothy Dain, Tucson, Ariz., and nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held in Virginia. Private inurnment was in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. The family asks that donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 9350 Braddock Road, Burke, Virginia 22105.
