Marion Ruediger Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.
Marion W. Ruediger, age 99.6, of Providence, Utah, left this earthly state peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Sept. 23, 2011. Mother enjoyed good health for most of her life and attributed it to staying busy and active.
She was the first child of seven born to George and Maude Dunn White. She arrived on March 24, 1912, in Buffalo, N.Y.
Marion married in 1938 to Russell DeWitt Ruediger, her husband of 52 years. They had five children all born in New York. The family moved to Florida in 1950 where the Ruediger grandparents lived. They moved to Utah where all their grandchildren lived in 1971, and to Providence when their new home was completed.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Russell, and son, Loren. Surviving to miss her are children Carl and Ruth Ruediger (Providence), Gail Floyd (Nibley), Roy and Linda Ruediger (Orlando, Fla.), Elma and Clayton Tew (Dothan, Ala.), sister Erna Bessey (Olympia, Wash.), 32 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Marion lived a long and happy life making many friends and scattering sunshine to many others. She provided service to her church in many capacities including temple work, extraction for genealogy and many ward responsibilities. She loved her flowers, yard work, sewing and baking. Many of her friends and neighbors enjoyed her gifts of pies and potholders.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 27, at noon at the Providence 1st Ward, 420 W. 100 North, Providence. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at Providence Cemetery.

I too use Marion's potholders every day. She planted Bachelor Button flowers in our yard. She baked us a pie. You couldn't serve her without her serving you back! She was a delightful lady. Her example taught us volumes.

Cache Valley Gardeners' Market will miss their 'oldest' vendor. Marion loved to come sit and watch the world go by while selling pot holders. I wonder how many households in Cache Valley has these special goodies? We'll miss you Marion.

As a temple ordinance worker, I saw her come innumerable times to the temple in the early morning hours and spend the day serving her Father in Heaven and doing work for others. She will be sorely missed. She was a great example to all of us who worked with her there. I am sure she was greeted on the other side by thousands. It was a privilege to know her.

Marion remembered my name and before I remembered hers. She always went out of her way to say hello to me. I will miss my dear friend. I use her pot holders every day.
