a dear friend of many years standing. When my friend and I came to Chicago from England to visit her she really organised a wonderful trip for us and I shall always remember her wonderful emails and her kindness to others less fortunate. I will miss her emails. Nita Luce

I've known Marita for almost 14 years. Though I was 20 years younger than her, I found that she easily transcended our generational gap and that of others. She was a modern woman, liberal and very well versed in history and modern-day events. I believe that she could converse with anyone at any age. We had similar passions: she liked to travel, read, meet people, and scuba dive. My wife and I enjoyed the times we spent with her; she was always pleasant and had many interesting stories to share with us. She will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace.

I met Rita at St. Vincent's college of nursing and we kept on touch through the years. She was a unique individual and a pleasure to have as a friend. In recent years we kept in touch through email and I felt I got to know her even better. I will miss her.

My condolences to the family of Marita (Rita) Maxey. Over the years since graduating from St. Vincent College of Nursing in Los Angeles, California, Rita and I had remained in contact over the years. Annual Christmas cards with continued exchange of news and several visits back and forth. Rita was an exceptional person in every way and I will miss her E-Mails and Christmas letters.
