Marjorie Hirsch was my ESL teacher in the 90s, her lessons and her beautiful personality stay with me until now. More than a teacher she was a friend, her lessons were inspiring and her writing marvelous. At the end of the semester, she sent me a letter, which said as follows: "Dear Nelida, it was really a pleasure having you in the class, your intelligence, perceptiveness, and joyful presence really contributed to the spirit of the class. Your writing is really good." with notes like this she uploaded the spirit of her students, but I think everything she wrote in this note described herself.
Thank you, Marjorie, I always remember you with gratitude.

I was just thinking of Marjorie, went on line and found this. My Grandmother was the sole mate of Marjorie’s father Sam Levine. I spent many many evenings with both of them. I adored Sam. He was truly a grandfather to me and my brothers. Marjorie and I became great friends and often we would go out for dinner or to the movies. She was a very interesting and dear person and wonderful daughter to her Dad. So sorry for her loss. Barbara Pruzan([email protected])

Dear Marjorie,
So many years teaching together, so many years of friendship. Thank you. The Hopi Prayer you sent me when my mom died says so much about you and how I think of you, too.
Hopi Prayer
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint in the snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.
I am the autumn's gentle rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there,
I did not die.
Love you,
Sue

Dear Marj-
Thank you for bringing so much life and wisdom into my life. You were a great friend and one of my strongest advocates. I loved visiting with you, sharing a glass of wine together while talking about books, art shows, travels, music, current events....whatever came to mind. I could talk to you about anything. You were a great listener and advisor. We had so much fun together. Time flew by when I was in your company and I would always leave our meetings feeling so full of life.
I thank you Marjorie for all the gifts you shared with me. You were always such a trooper and you had more energy and curiosity for life than most anyone I know. You introduced me to such a fun, eclectic and interesting group of friends. We are all richer for having met you and forever changed by you. May your spirit live on in all of us forever.
With great love and reverence,
Roxa

Dearest Marjorie,
You were a remarkable, extraordinary, unique woman. You were my life mentor and guided me like no other for so many years...I loved spending hours talking to you. I always got inspired by your admirable inner strenght, by the freedom of your thought that everything is possible and will always be OK. We shared so many great meals together, we shared dreams, failures, aspirations, fears, and success. There is no one like you, dear Marjorie. I will miss you forever. You are forever in my heart and I am sure you will be by my side guiding me...in light and love.
Yours,
Milena

I remember when I first met my cousin Marjorie. I was a young teenager and was captivated by her as I held her hands during our introduction. I said to myself I want to know this cousin of mine. When I became older we became friends. We shared the very last mutual I love you' the day before she died. I will carry the knowledge, wisdom and light she shared within me. I feel comfort knowing she is off on another cosmic adventure and marveling at the newness of each day.

Dear Marjorie,
I'm really grateful to know you.
That was something I had in mind all the time.
We did a lot of cultural explorations; going to museums, movies etc...
Oh and I still remember that we smoked a cigarette in SoHo while walking down the street.
Your curiosity was amazing.
That inspired me so much.
Thank you Marjorie for always caring about me.
We will meet again, soon.
Then we'll continue our great adventure.

Marjorie was a one of the most vibrant and life-affirming souls I've ever had the pleasure to know. A brilliant mind, a wicked sense of humor, a lifelong seeker of truth and consciousness, and a true force of nature. The world was blessed by her presence and I am beyond grateful to have called her a friend. Marjorie, thank you for everything. I'll keep going knowing you are shining your light. See you on the other side! Love, Joseph
