Marjorie Hoftiezer Obituary
Marjorie grew up in Oostburg, Wisconsin where she met her husband Dale Hoftiezer from Cedar Grove. She was educated as a registered nurse working in various medical institutions including Lake Forest Hospital. After 20+ years of nursing, Marjorie then decided to get a degree in computer programming and was employed at Baxter International. Upon Dale's early retirement, Marjorie also retired and together they traveled the country and became expert square dancers until Dale's death.
Marjorie had a strong Christian faith and volunteered years with the church Sunday school ministry, eventually becoming part of the original founders with her husband Dale of the Village Church of Gurnee. Marjorie lived to dance and continued traveling to square dance conventions well into her 70s. She also loved flower gardens. Her townhouse flower gardens were a "must see" for the community walkers. Marjorie loved nothing more than sitting at her kitchen table with her bible and newspaper, watching the birds and wildlife from her back patio. In addition, she loved playing water volleyball, bike riding, and walking. Marjorie enjoyed hosting her siblings when they came from out of town. Laughter rang out as her and her siblings got together. Marjorie was kind and had a fabulous sense of humor with a good strong streak of stubbornness that lasted until the very end.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Marjorie's life with a visitation on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL, 60031. Interment to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery at 1920 W. Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL, 60048.
