Marjorie Cleveland Warren, 82, passed from this life on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

She was a native of Lawrence County. Baptized into Christ in 1943, Marge worshipped God with members of the Grant Street congregation of the Church of Christ in Decatur since 1968.

Marge was a 1947 graduate of Lawrence County High School. After graduation from Calhoun Community College, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Hicks Chevrolet and Art Belew Chevrolet dealerships. She later became a credit department manager for First National/ AmSouth Bank of Decatur. Upon retirement in 1985, Mrs. Warren continued her passion for yard work, cultivating colorful flowering plants and shrubbery, which she referred to as playing in the dirt. Once upon a time, Marge enjoyed hobbies such as bowling, sewing, cane fishing and card making, but in recent years, she had developed a growing reputation among relatives, friends and church family for baking delicious loaves of sour dough bread.

Marge is survived by her devoted husband, James E. Warren; one daughter, Kaye Warren of Decatur; brother, Alton Cleveland of Moulton; grandsons, Ben Gunn of Decatur and Dr. J. Stephen Gunn of Derry Township/ Hershey, Pa. Stephen and wife, Dr. Holly W. Gunn, have given Marge two precious great-granddaughters, Lucy, her namesake, and Madeline.

Funeral services will be today, April 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Alan Watkins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McCulloch and Jerry Robinson.
