Mark J. Anderer

With great sadness we announce the death of Mark J. Anderer, of East Falls, Philadelphia, PA, who passed away on January 6, 2023, at the age of 65.

Born on July 24, 1957, Mark graduated from Father Judge High School, received a B.S. from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and an M.B.A. from Temple University.

Mark was a successful financial planner and owner of the company Mark Anderer and Associates, created in 1980, and the past president of Financial Advisory Network Ltd. and Employee Benefit Design Inc. At Villanova University, he taught continuing education classes for certified financial planners, certified public accountants and attorneys.

A firm believer in the importance of mentoring young people, Mark spent many years coaching a variety of sports for youth ages 5-17 and was a master level instructor for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of Religious Education, teaching theology in grades 5-8 and high school. He also spent time tutoring Math and English in North Philadelphia and Harlem, NY. He served as vice president of the HERO Scholarship Alumni Association of Philadelphia, and he spent many years volunteering at his community parish, St. Bridget's.

Mark was above all a supportive and loving father, grandfather and brother. Preceded in death by his son, Matthew, Mark is survived by his son Stephen, his daughter Elizabeth Anderer, his son-in-law Victor Gonzalez, and their two children, Matthew and Layla Gonzalez. He is also survived by two brothers: Paul (Mia) and Tom (Jane), a niece and four nephews. He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation at St. Bridget Church, 3667 Midvale Avenue at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 14th, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be given to the HERO Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships for the Children of Police Officers and Firefighters of the City of Philadelphia who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty: HERO Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia, P.O.
