Mark Richard Baker, 34, died Wednesday, July 29, 2004, in a motorcycle accident in Bakersfield, CA.
Mark grew up in San Diego. He received an Associates of Arts Degree with Honors from San Bernardino Valley College. He then received his Bachelors Degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Political Science. In a true love and respect for the law, Mark earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Palmyra (P.J.) Baker, a San Bernardino educator. He is also survived by the love of his life, his beautiful daughter, Hallie Baker. Mark is survived by his parents, Larry and Linda Slycord, and numerous relatives and friends. Predeceased by father, Raymond M. Baker.
Mark, a tireless and dedicated public servant and criminal justice advocate was a former Reserve Deputy Sheriff of Fontana, and a current Kern County Deputy District Attorney.
Mark was an avid collector, a passionate sportsman and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed by all of his colleagues, friends and family.
Family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hallie Baker Trust Fund, Washington Mutual Bank, Redlands Branch, 4 W. Redlands Blvd., Redlands, CA 92373.
