Mark Cyr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, 2022.
Mark Richard Cyr, or 'Moogie' as he was better known, passed to the other side on Oct. 24th.

He was born in Rockville CT on September 16th, 1967.

He went to Ellington HS where he played soccer and baseball. He loved the game of hockey in particular and played youth hockey and later in adult leagues until he was no longer able.

He spent time in the Navy and National Guard. After returning home to CT, he was employed for a number of years at the family business, Plas-tec Coatings in South Windsor.

His children were the highlight of his life. He was very proud to watch them grow to adulthood even though he could not always be there for them. They had some hard times but they also had some good times with their Dad and understand that it was difficult for him to be able to outskate his demons. We are all sad that he will miss the marriage of his firstborn son next spring.

Anyone who knew Moogie would say that he could be quick witted, smart, funny, and loyal to those who he cared about. He loved the outdoors and spent time with his kids and family, fishing, hunting and hanging out at his parents' camps in Maine. The family will get together at a future date to reminisce about the good times with their son, brother, father, and friend. There will be happy memories, laughs and some entertaining stories.

He leaves behind his former wife Michelle who still cared for him, his children Ricky, Danny and Shannon, a grandson Tucker, his parents Richard and Sandra Cyr and siblings Tim, Terry and Brian. He will be missed by his best friend Laurel McKraus of Bristol CT who took care of him during the last several years of his declining health.

The family encourages anyone who cared about Moogie to show some compassion and care for others who suffer from addiction.

This is how I like to remember him. Having fun, being a silly little brother. I know he was 55 years old but he will always be my little brother.
