To my friend, from years gone by, I'm grateful that we reconnected over the last two years. By phone, reminiscing over the days at Marion college and catching up on each others lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark's family. He was truly a good soul. He will be missed.

What a great legacy has been left by Mark. I didn't know Mark very well but I knew him to be a man of God! He will be greatly missed.

Mark was a kind, inspiring, intelligent & Godly man who made you feel that you were the only one in the room. He listened intently, always had an uplifting or funny thing to say and I know he loved Cathy so much. Her face lit so brightly when he was near! It was a beautiful thing to witness. I always took notes during his UMCOR Academy chaplain's messages. He obviously knew and loved Jesus, as well as everyone else, and the intensity of His light shown through Mark! Peace and comfort be with his whole family and all his friends.

My hope is that Mark's family can find comfort in his passing - he is free of pain and with his God. Mark was one of the most special people I ever met. He had a way of being present with you when you talked, of being interested and engaged in those around him. He showed such love and devotion to his family - it was alway clear to see. Rest In Peace, my friend, until we see each other again,

Though we only met in person for a few days in response to Hurricane Sandy - I had an instant connection to the Spirit and grace he exuded to everyone that crossed our paths. He cared for the soul of people and recognized them as a child of God in the moments he spent with them. It was fun to watch and obviously came from a lifelong practice.
