Mark Randall Frere

Mark Randall Frere of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Rapids on January 15, 2025, due to complications of diabetes. Born on October 27, 1960, to Raymond and Jacquelyn Frere, Mark was a loving father, husband, and brother. He graduated from Novi High School in 1978, where he was an outstanding baseball player. He attended several Michigan universities and early in his career he worked at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Mark is survived by his partner of 35 years, Trina Carpenter, and his son, Mark Alexander Carpenter-Frere. He leaves behind his sisters, Diane and JoEllen, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his younger brother and best friend, Scott R. Frere.

Mark's hobbies included collecting coins as well as baseball, and hockey cards. He enjoyed playing board games, especially backgammon. As a young man, he liked to fish in the AuSable River near his family's cabin. Above all else, Mark loved cheering on his son Alex, who played hockey and baseball.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens at 43300 W. 12 Mile Road in Novi. Following, family and friends will gather at his son Alex's home in Royal Oak at 616 Catalpa. All are welcome to attend both events. Please feel free to share this post.
