I was born in 57. As a kid growing up some of the episodes of lost in space got ingrained in my mind. I remember the night it premiered on tv. I remember running home from elementary school a few years later to catch the re runs. Don't know which came first my interest in science and space then lost in space or the other way around. But I ended up with a BS in engineering a MS in math., a US Air Force officer, worked on several space programs and still contract in the aerospace industry. The third episode I think where they crash on the planet and Don jumps in the freezing tube and the camera view out the front of the spaceship with the music still brings tears to my eyes. RIP Mr. Goddard. You really did help inspire a generation

MY FIRST MEMORY OF MARK GODDARD WAS AS THE MOST HANDSOMEST SHARP SMART MAJOR DON WEST ON LOST IN SPACE IN 1965. I WAS 7 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME. HE WAS MY HERO ON TV THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES. HE HAD A FANTASTIC SPEAKING VOICE.

MARK played a "Mean" traveling Cowboy on an episode of GUNSMOKE where he was involved in a terrible accident of a young girl's fate & was very convincing as that character (& Michael Pollard starred also, as his friend). Then, I see him in LOST in SPACE as Major WEST and that same "convincing intensity" was there - - Good acting chops !! Our Best and Prayers to his family and peers. My brother and I grew up watching LIS and each have a Functioning ROBOT from the show - DANGER Will Robinson !

Mark thank you for the fantasy when I was a kid to be lost in space. My twin and I tuned in every week to see how you would help the Robinsons get home while trying not to throttle Dr Smith. Thank you for making me believe in space adventure. Rest in peace Mark

Of course, Don west.....but I was fortunate enough to meet him in Massachusetts while visiting my Sister and her family. He lived next door to my sisters in-laws back then and gave me a signed picture of himself. We visited for awhile. He was as handsome and gracious as I always thought he was. May God bless him and hold his family in his welcoming arms.

I once waited on Mark at the Fireside Grille, Middleboro MA. I recognized him right away. I was honored and privileged to be his housecleaner some time after that. He was a gentleman and a delight to be around. I was very sad to hear he had passed. My thoughts are with his family and wife Evelyn. Most Sincerely, Nancy Blanchard

He played soooo well on Lost in Space. He had the nicest smile and was incredibly handsome. Sometimes he got on Dr Smith a bit too much. But they acted well together. Thought he and Judy would tie the knot one day. We will miss you, dear Mark. You were the best! Condolences to your family.

As a child in the 1960's. When I was watching Lost In Space. When a alien or monster came into the scene. I always said where is Major Don West. The Major was a great fighter in those Lost In Space Episodes. Mr. Goddard was my favorite actor in that T.V. Series. My deepest sincere sympathy to the Goddard Family. Rest in peace Sir. In the mid 60's my brother and I walked home from school and on days that lost in space would air we would talk of what we thought each actor would do on the episode. We were blessed to watch Mark real in the professor. I only wish I could have told him in person what wonderful childhood memories of mine he is a part of.

I extend my condolences to Mark's wife and family. I admired Mark since childhood as Don West on Lost in Space. Later in life I came to have great respect for Mark for his career as a special education teacher, and for having touched so many lives in a positive way. I never had the pleasure of meeting Mark, although I felt a got to know him via Facebook, where he often interacted with his admirers. Mark will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Ray Rogers.

I never had the opportunity to meet Mark in person, but he seemed like such a gracious, kind person. I had become a huge fan of "Lost in Space" as a young child and even though the show stopped being rerun in NY around 1974, the show always remained in our minds as the ultimate fun program that brought so much enjoyment to a couple of generations of kids. It was always nice to see him subsequent years being so appreciative of his fans. He always retained that youthful look and was a humble star who kept his feet solidly on the ground. RIP Mark, you will be forever missed.
