Mark Halperin

I have lost a cherished friend, and the world a good man and a fine poet. I join all who loved Mark in sorrow and remembrance.

So sad to hear of Mark's passing. Praying that our Lord will comfort his family and friends. My heart breaks for you.

The visual trademark I have of Mark's is a genial smile, with eyes focused on you at an angle, and ready for a witty, quick-paced conversation. There was plenty to admire in Mark. He was a remarkable man. With sympathies to Bobbie and the family.

Mark's obituary records an impressive list of accomplishments. He made a genuine contribution to poetry and teaching and always seemed to enjoy life -- an accomplishment in itself.

It was my privilege to work with Mark in the CWU English Department for 16 years before he retired, and to encounter him occasionally after his retirement.
This is a grievous loss. Mark was such a brilliant composite of intellect, knowledge, creativity, character, and personality. He will be sorely missed in on campus and in the Ellensburg community. My condolences to his family.

As you remember your love one, as God heals your broken hearts (Psalm 147:3), may your treasured memories continue to bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure.

Mark's death leaves a hole in the lives of many of us. He was a lovely man.

So sorry for your loss. Mark will be missed by my family and all whose lives he touched.
