One of my most favorite and special memories of me and my brother Ricky was in the late sixties when our mom sent us to stay with her father at a farm in Florida. After an overnight train ride and mom warned me to take care of my brother. She packed us sandwiches and snacks for the long ride. Ricky had his little green army men and enough imagination to play with them forever. I had my comic books. We arrived at the farm in the morning. We were real city slickers cause when my grandmother asked us if we could go to the coup and get a chicken. We said absolutely. What we didn´t know is chickens fight back. We hauled tail out of that coup. My grandmother said "move out of the way city boys". She went to the coup and grabbed a chicken. Next thing Ricky and I knew we were having chicken and grits for breakfast. I am so grateful for all the adventures we had together that summer and even more grateful to reminisce with my brother and laugh about it during what would be the last week of his life. I will miss my brother.

I will always remember my brother who was affectionately known as Ricky had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He was an impeccable dresser who could change his clothes at least 3 times a day. He was known to be an excellent dancer. Smooth as silk. He was truly a dog whisperer who brought home strays daily. They would only listen to him. All the neighbors on North 25th Street in Philadelphia loved and adored him. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my brother Ricky and will forever see his smile. May God rest his soul.
