Mark Keilty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 14, 2009.
HARWICH — Mark Andrew Keilty of Harwich, and formerly of Concord, passed away in his home surrounded by close friends and family on April 11, 2009.

Mark proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1968-1972. He was decorated with the Purple Heart Badge of Merit and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms for his service in the Vietnam War.

In 1985, Mark and his family moved to Cape Cod, where he started his longtime business, Keilty Plumbing and Heating.

Mark's jovial personality made him the life of every party and he could always make people laugh with his knack for storytelling. He especially enjoyed golfing with the "doctors," cheering on New England's sports teams and jetting off to warm destinations to don his signature Hawaiian shirts.

He is survived by his daughter Jessica Keilty Eaton and her husband Tom Eaton of Richmond, Vt.; son David Keilty of Harwich; and former wife, Corinne Blakeney of Harwich. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and June Keilty of Framingham; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Keilty of Mashpee and Fort Myers, Fla.; sister, Doris McGarry of Leominster; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Cliff Drazen of Hudson, N.H.; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and David Rheaume of Fitchburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home,on Route 28 in West Harwich on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A church service will be held at the Holy Trinity Church on Route 28 in West Harwich on Thursday, April 16, at 11 a.m., followed by an interment service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Donations in Mark's memory can be made to the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod, at 434 Route 134, Suite G-1, South Dennis, MA 02660, or The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Trust Service, at 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076, www.cst.dav.org.

John and Sharon, I'm very sorry to hear about Mark's death. I had heard he was ill when I attended our high school reunion, but didn't realize how serious it was.
May God's peace be with you, as it is with Mark, now and always.

To Mark's family:

From all of my family, we want to extend our deepest sympathies to you all. Mark was a great friend, from the days of playing ball on Central Street to joining the Marines together, he was always there to cover our backs. Though Mark was always the quiet one, he was also the toughest. He taught us all how to be men. He will always be remembered, never forgotten. Godspeed my friend.
