Mark Lacey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2022.
Mark Edwin Lacey, aged 67, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior surrounded by loved ones on July 28th, 2022. Mark was born in Dayton, Ohio and raised in Oakmont, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Riverview High School in 1973. Mark was a beloved and active member of his and his wife's church in Beijing, China, a patient and passionate teacher to those in China learning English and loved by all. He had a great sense of humor and would go above and beyond for others, even readily giving the shirt off his back to someone in need, especially a loved one. From a young age, Mark loved taking apart and putting together transistor radios which later developed into a love of computers and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. Mark also had a passion for music and played any stringed instrument he could get his hands on including piano, guitar and keyboards, as well as giving his voice in song. Mark was involved in numerous music groups in his lifetime and also composed works of his own. Mark is survived by his loving wife Min, daughters Sarah Johns (Francis), Kaitlyn Lacey, and Leah Lacey (Nicholas), brothers David Lacey (Nancy), Dale Lacey (Virginia), Jim Lacey (Tracy Yates), sisters Sue Watt (John) and Jane Buie (Don) and grandchildren Jennica and Francis Johns.

Daniel 6:25 - Then King Darius wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: "Peace be multiplied to you. I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues, he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions."

Hi Lacey family. Please accept our best on the passing of Mark. Your family were great neighbors who warmly welcomed us into our new life in Oakmont (in 1969?). Your friendship was so welcome as our family entered our new life in Oakmont. I learned to appreciate it even more later in life as Lisa and I raised a family. Mark and I shared a few things growing up. We both pitched in to purchase the first Led Zeppelin album and made an effort at forming a band. Mark was the only one that really knew what he was doing. Mark also wired a morse code set up between our respective bedrooms. Eventually your mother had to call our house to ask that I cease and desist. Mark developed a rich life for himself and his family. I hope you all find peace. dp

Mark was the cousin that I was closest to as a kid because we were the same age. I remember the times the Laceys visited Indian Lake and we would all get together for family times - the Laceys and the Bachs. This would have been in the late 60's when I lived there with my family. Mark rowed a row boat across the lake to where our house was and we would hang out together. He was a caring and loving person even as a kid, and loved having adventures with his cousins.

So sorry to hear about your loss, Leah. May God's peace that surpasses all understanding garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Your father served the Lord and I know he is being honored for that in heaven. Peace and comfort to all of you during this difficult time.

Mark was an active, inquisitive, thoughtful, intelligent, engaging, musical, funny and very loving child and adult. He never met a stranger and was a good friend. When very young, he scampered about like a pixie and laughed with Joy and happiness. I have fond memories and loving smiles as Mark ascends to God´s Heaven with Angels all around.

I´m saying goodbye to a very loving , good natured, creative person. He truly was one of the people that started me on my way to my interest in production work.
