Mark's Obituary just showed up on my personal email, and I starting thinking about the experiences we shared at Arizona State.

Halloween parties at Ocotillo Dorm, driving in his brown sports car, going to see Supertramp in concert at the old Phoenix Coliseum.

Intramural Football games with Mark as our QB.

Competing on his team at the Superstars event on campus.

I was fortunate to see
Mark when he came to St.Petersburg for work back in 1990?

What a great guy, always smiling, witty, sarcastic and a loyal friend.

I just found out about Mark's passing away.

He was a great friend at Arizona State, always smiling, quick witted and the life of the parties at Ocotillo Hall.

Memories of driving in his brown Cougar around Tempe, concerts in Phoenix and roadtrips to Carefree and Cave Creek.

I was fortunate to see him, when came to the Tampa Bay area for business in 1988.

Thoughts and prayers to his family

I first met Mark Rood while working as a TV Producer/Production Manager for FOX KPDX-TV in 1989. He and his partner, Steve Wasser, had at the time started up a company called American Consulting Services and had created a unique and very successful selling strategy to help small businesses be more effective with their advertising. They came to me to help put this concept onto video tape so that could sell this in addition to their “Live” seminars. Mark was always an engaging, likeable presenter that was able to educate and excite his audiences, usually made up of salespeople and business owners, into action. Mark's big smile and gregarious laugh was an undeniable presence that will surely be missed. We went on to become good friends and participated in many area golf tournaments together winning the Quarterback Shootout, Safeway LPGA Pro-AM and Royal Oaks Member Guest amongst others. Mark and his lovely wife Kate built a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright designed home on top of a small mountain east of Vancouver with pictures windows that perfectly held Mt. Hood in sight. Whatever Mark did…he did it well and he did it with gusto. His spirit lives on with his two wonderful children whom he was very proud of and always took time to boast about them and their many accomplishments. It is sad that we lose good friends and family sometimes far too early. We never know what God has planned. All we can do is believe that we will someday see them again in a much happier place. So “CHEERS” to my good friend Mark. Though his parting has left a void, may the many fond memories we have of him live forever on.

(A poem by Linda Jo Jackson)

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
