Mark Sneed

Mark Alan Sneed, 64, passed away on January 28th, 2023, at his home in Tome, New Mexico.

Mark was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on July 4th, 1958. As a child he was mischievous and adventurous, often catching frogs and snakes, and gleefully tormenting his sisters. He served as an airman for the U.S Airforce with the 7th Security Police Squadron during the 1970's and was honorably discharged in 1979. Mark moved to New Mexico during the 1990's and worked for the U.S Postal Service. He was Los Lunas' mailman for many years and was recognized and greeted almost anywhere he went. Mark was a free spirit, his entrances and exits often punctuated by the roar of his Harley. He could build a house from the ground up, get any vehicle running, and fix anything that broke; he was the guy you called when you broke down on the side of the road, to help you move, or if you needed to be bailed out of jail. He was also an accomplished woodworker, a fantastic cook, and an expert pool player. A skilled outdoorsman, Mark loved to hunt and fish, and if you asked, could tell you anything you wanted to know about wild places, and the wild things within them.

Mark is survived by his mother Bettie, sisters Linda and Lisa, daughter Ember, and girlfriend Sharla. His absence will be keenly felt, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A gathering in Mark's honor will be held at a later date, which will be announced in the paper once confirmed.

Mark is from Mississippi, he.moved to New Mexico in the late 80's and retired from the Belen Post Office. Mark was polite and kind to everyone. He was a devoted friend...one you appreciate for life. His absence can never be filled and losing Mark is totally devastating. He was one of a kind and deeply loved. I can picture him smiling riding his Harley...love and miss you Mark Sneed!
