Mark had such a great sense of humor and ability to make people feel welcomed. He talked about his children with such pride and love. All the children he taught over many years have greatly benefited from Mark's compassion and knowledge. Rest in peace friend.

I met Mark thru my work at a local auto garage. The first day he was there he wrote a song and played it for us. It was amazing. Every since then Mark and I would talk every few months on the phone and talk on facebook. He was a great guy with a huge heart and very talented. I will definitely miss Mark as he was a true friend. R.I.P buddy till I see you again

My family and I have known the Steiner family for the last fifteen or sixteen years. We met them up at Squam Lake, in NH, during our annual summer vacation. We have watched Sonoma and Hunter grow up from their babyhood to teen and pre-teen years, respectively. One of my best memories of Mark is a schmooze by the lake which spanned everything from seasonal herring catches and the best place in NYC to pick up the tastiest, to a conversation about memories. He seemed to take great pleasure in the former, and showed and depth and insight in the latter. I also witnessed this same insight in his communication with his children. I will greatly miss Mark´s guitar playing on the beach and his general presence in our cozy summer community. My family and I send our love and and prayers to Valerie, Sonoma and Hunter.

The most vivid memory I have of Mark happened around 15 years ago. I was walking my oldest in a stroller around our neighborhood. He was driving and stopped his car , rolled down his window and exploded with joy to tell me Valerie had just given birth to Sonoma! He was beyond excited! He was always with his children! And they are amazing!! Our hearts and love go out to Sonoma and Hunter.

Back in the summer of 2006, on Little Squam Lake in New Hampshire, my sister and I noticed an adorable red haired baby in her floatie with her parents. We smiled at her and before you know it, her dad, Mark, invited us to play with her. This was the start of a wonderful friendship between my family and the Steiner family. We have grown to consider each other family as the years have gone on. We all always look forward to our time on the lake together. One thing we loved to do was go out on the boat with Mark at the helm. He knew all the great swimming spots and fishing spots, had great stories to tell and loved to joke around. In the evening you could follow the sound of music and find Mark strumming away by the bonfire to a group of family, friends and strangers. It will be different this summer. Mark, your friendship will be missed. Valerie, Sonoma and Hunter, I love you, I´m here for you and my heart is with you.
