I just found out about Mark's death and wanted to express my condolences to his family. I knew Mark through the printing industry and he was truly a great man who cared deeply for his family, employees and vendors. Rest in peace, Mark

A wonderful soul - he was my neighbor many years ago in Charlottesville. He had a warm and caring heart. I loved to hear him laugh.

I was quite saddened to see that Mark had passed. We were old college buddies who lost touch, but renewed contact again when he became ill. It is sad that his illness is what it took to bring us together again. I will miss him.

Mark's family,
I hope each day brings you richer memories, and each message about what a wonderfully kind and generous man Mark was, brings you peace. His was a beautifully lived life, and many are touched by that. I knew him through the world of printing and worked with him on many annoying little printing projects that distracted him from the easy ones! He was charming, forgiving and generous through it all.

Gary and I were talking today when Spectrum Press entered our minds & immediately we wondered how is he? He hD shared his journey through life and what he was going to be going through the next months.

Mark...Thank you for being a friend when I needed a helping hand. Thank you for being a counselor when I didn't have a plan. Thank you for making me laugh when inside I wanted to cry. I used to sell Mark some paper. I found Mark to be friendly, warm and always giving of his time. He was not selfish. I always respected his ability to run a business successfully for many years. I will miss him.

I just talked to Mike and heard the news about Mark. We were on vacation last week and I didn't know. Mark was such a giving and caring person. He always had time to sit and talk with me. I will truly miss seeing him however, I know we will see each other again one day. Until then, God speed ahead Mark!

I married into the family and had the pleasure of knowing Mark since 1972. He was always one of my favorite uncles. He always welcomed my family into his home back when we were younger and in better health, and I always loved spending the weekend in Richmond. It was my hideaway from the world, and the stress of work and life in general. I always told Mark and Sarah the world didn't have a clue where I was and no chance of finding me. When Mark and I were in our prime we were both softball fanatics and could both hit the "long ball" so far you didn't think it would ever touch down. Once when I was young and stupid I tried to beat Mark at eating pizza. No chance of that. Needless to say I lost and was miserable the rest of the night to boot. Mark, I will miss you greatly, old friend. Sarah, Lainee and family, I am so sorry for your loss and I will keep you in my prayers. Keith Belcher, Roanoke, VA.

Mr. Zell was my teacher when I was in the 8th grade so long ago. He was so handsome and kind, all the girls had crushes on him. He treated each of us with the greatest of respect and was a good friend at the same time. I will never forget him nor will the students who had positive impact by his life.

I had Mr. Zell for 8th grade science class. He was one of my MOST favorite teachers. He was very interesting, funny, and creative. There was never a day that I didn't look forward to going to his class. After all of these years, I still talk about what a wonderful teacher he was. I also thought he was VERY handsome! He will be missed by many of his former students. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I worked for Mark for many years. My son had chicken pox and I would miss work for 7-10 days and no pay. So Mark came up with an idea, sent the delivery driver and everything I would need to keep working for those days to my house. What a relief. This was the kind of generosity and kindness the man showed to all around him. Mrs.Zell and Lainie I hope you have many more story's like these to comfort you and warm your heart.

My brother-in-law was truly a genuine man. He was a strong man, who fought his fight and ran his race with strength and dignity.

Mark (Wahoo) and I (Hokie) always had some spirited athletic discussions. When I left my downtown job, I missed running into him on Main St. and having lunch.

I worked for Mark (and also Steve Moore) at System Printing back in the 70's. It really was a fun place to work. I am so sorry about your loss and my thoughts are with the family.
