Marlin Stevens Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2025.
Marlin Stevens, Sr., 86, of Middletown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025. Born on June 24, 1938, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Emma Catherine Stevens (Basehore) and Willard Henry Stevens. A proud graduate of Highspire High School in Highspire, PA, Class of 1958, Marlin entered the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. From 1958 to 1966, he served honorably as a Missile Maintenance Technician. His assignments took him to Osan Air Base in Korea, Walker Air Force Base in New Mexico, and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life. Marlin was a man who embraced life with resilience and determination. He faced challenges with strength and lived fully through each chapter of his journey. He found joy in simple pleasures and had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and tradition. Whether he was tinkering with his beloved 1955 Chevy or refinishing antiques with care and precision, Marlin's hands were rarely idle. His hobbies reflected his wide-ranging interests: attending car shows, fishing local streams and lakes, collecting coins with an eye for history and detail, gardening with patience and pride, and cheering from the sidelines at countless sporting events for his children and grandchildren. He was a familiar face at community gatherings-always present to support those he loved. Marlin cherished time spent with family above all else. He is survived by his sons Brian Stevens and Marty Stevens; his grandchildren Derek Stevens, Cassie Stevens, Lucy Stevens, and Samuel Stevens; three great-grandchildren; and his sisters Shirley Geib, Carol Merritt, and Adelaide Spurlock. Though divorced from his first wife Jan Herman, they shared many formative years together. He later remarried Janet Stevens (Rhodes), who also preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his siblings Nancy Pottiger, Delroy Stevens, Lester Stevens, and Kenny Stevens. A man of quiet strength and enduring love for family traditions, Marlin leaves behind a legacy rooted in perseverance and connection. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In remembrance of Marlin's life and spirit, contributions may be made to the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/pa. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
