Marsha Hults Obituary

Marsha L. Hults

Berkeley Township - Marsha Lynn Hults, age 69, of Forked River, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Passaic, Marsha has been a resident of Bayville and Forked River for the past 42 years. Although she spent time employed at Picatinny Arsenal, the Air Force Recruiting Station in Wayne, and the Outpatient Lab at Community Medical Center, Marsha always believed her purpose on Earth was to be a devoted wife and mother--and she excelled at it. Married for 42 years to her loving husband, Bill, their union was one to be awed, admired, respected, and truly the greatest example of love that others could witness. Marsha was "Mom" to two children, but so many others (even furry ones!). She treasured her children, championed their every move, and cherished every moment with them. While "wife" and "mother" were first and foremost in Marsha's life, she also flourished in her significant roles as leader, teacher, mentor, activist, exercise partner, book club buddy, knitting colleague, and detective (because if anybody needed to find something--whether in their soul or sock drawer, "Super-Mom" could help them find it!).

Every action in Marsha's life was rooted in her strong faith; she was the epitome of a "good and faithful servant," and welcomed the opportunity to share her love of Jesus with everyone around her. Even without words, her vivacity, love of people, and incredible energy left indelible marks on those with whom she interacted. In the last several years, Marsha felt called to faithfully serve at Lacey United Methodist Church in Forked River and led a 13-week Bible study course on the topic of Grace. She left a profound impact on her students, who continually hungered for more of her wisdom. Marsha was a well-versed, avid reader of the Bible and was always sure to use her knowledge to comfort, console, protect, provide, and nourish anyone in need. "Feeding" others was beyond symbolic for anyone blessed enough to also enjoy her fabulous cooking. Marsha was an excellent cook who loved hosting, entertaining, and embracing life by connecting with others. She made her home feel as though it was everyone's home, and her sweet spirit enveloped all who entered it. She loved spending time on her front and back porches--often with her beloved husband to enjoy morning coffee, take in magnificent sunrises and sunsets, and breathe in the salty air as boats delicately lapped across the Barnegat Bay.

Sustaining and sharing the lessons, service, kindness, and love of Marsha are her dedicated husband of 42 joyous years, Bill Hults; her loving and loyal son, Billy Hults; her darling daughter, Elizabeth (Hults) Elko; her faithful son-in-law, Andrew Elko; her dear brother, Raymond Flores; and her beloved Nana, Louise Warren.

Marsha was simply a paragon of class, dignity, grace, and poise. Her insatiable passion for life, unparalleled sense of humor, and unconditional love of others made it an honor to be in her presence. Please join us in celebrating her beautiful life on Thursday, January 24, at Lacey United Methodist Church, 203 West Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ. Visiting hours will be held from 2-5pm, followed by a memorial service with an invitation for anyone who wishes to share uplifting and cherished memories or reflections of Marsha. Mastapeter Funeral Home in Bayville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Marsha's memory to a house of worship that is dear to you.

Marsha was the sweetest girl I knew growing up. She would often break out in song, it was in, and from her heart. I remember her high and delicate voice singing any of the famous Dionne Warwick songs, among others. I reconnected with her when I returned from my time in the AF, we'd hang out with some friends, I always had special a feeling for her, she had a real depth of character which made her stand out from the group, also a great sense of humor and timing, an engaging conversationalist. I often think of her and feel a great sense of loss in her passing. She would have liked this song . . . give it a listen. (Welcome to My world, as sung by Cliff-a-nator on youtube.) I chose it for the Father-Daughter dance at my second daughter's wedding this past October. I will miss you Marsha and think of you often, Gods Bless. I know you must have a beautiful family, it would suit you. Mark Fiedler, North Swanzey, NH.

Dear Bill and Family,

Bill and I are so sorry for your loss. We were fortunate enough to meet your mom at a wedding. She was such a sweet woman. It means a lot that you shared so many stories with us. From those stories, we could tell she was a great mom, wife, and friend to so many. Be sure to keep all of the wonderful memories of her close to your heart.

Mom Hults: you were the absolute most selfless person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. You embraced me as one of your own from the time I met you at the age of 6 until now. Your wisdom and guidance in my life will never be forgotten. Thank you for treating me as one of your own. Dad Hults, Bill and Tess: there are no words. You guys became my 2nd family in 1985 when I began visiting my dad on the weekends and was just looking for a friend. I'm so honored to be in your lives and I hope the laughs and memories of mom bring you strength during this beyond difficult time. Love you guys so much!
