MARSHALL LITTLE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2012.
LITTLE MARSHALL
A devoted husband and father who fought hard for his family, friends, and community every day of his life, passed away Friday night. He leaves behind his wife, Mindy; four children, Derek, Barrett, Caleb, and Maggie; and grandson, Jackson; also, he is survived by his brothers, Mark and Michael Little; his sister-in-law, Cindy Long and her two sons, Grant and Ryan Dunham. He was the son of the late Robert "Jack" and Dorothy Little. Marshall Little was a dentist in Claysville, PA. He cared for countless patients over the years with a level of kindness and devotion that many will never forget. Always quick with a joke and a warm smile, he put his patients first on every trip they made to the dentist's office. With Marshall there, a visit to the dentist's office was enjoyable. Marshall raised four amazing children who have been profoundly successful. Derek is a graduate of Clemson University and works as an environmental engineer. He is married to Mary Catherine Little and lives in Athens, GA. Barrett is a graduate of the University of Richmond and Temple University School of Medicine and is training to be an orthopedic surgeon. He is married to Sarah Lingerfelt Little. They are the parents of Jackson Little and live in Richmond, VA. Caleb is a graduate of the College of Charleston and works as an applications manager and lives in Bridgeville, PA. Maggie is a graduate of the University of Richmond and works as an assistant buyer in the fashion industry and lives in Claysville, PA. Marshall and Mindy married on June 21, 1980. They enjoyed 32 years of wonderful marriage. They have traveled to Italy, England, Ireland, and France. They camped and white water rafted the Grand Canyon. They walked the Golden Gate Bridge. They biked the Grand Teton Mountains. They made their life together a great adventure that knew few bounds. Marshall was born on July 6, 1954 in Fairmont, WV. He was a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He spent over 30 years practicing dentistry in Claysville, PA. Marshall loved history, cars, and his dogs. He had a thirst for knowledge and teaching. He was charitable and kind. He was a friend. He was a rock to many. He will be missed by all. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Claysville United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jerome Creach officiating. Condolences may be expressed online at www.piattandbarnhillfh.com. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Richmond SPCA, 2519 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, VA 23220 or at www.richmondspca.org or to the Washington City Mission, 84 W. Thinking of your family this Thanksgiving as you join together without him for the first time. I think I speak for the entire Class of 1972 when I say Marshall was adding smiles to all of our lives long before he chose dentistry for a profession. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you.

Dear Mindy and family,
Dr Little knew my mouth well and since I spent countless hours in the first chair closest to the door, I even felt I knew your children since hours were spent conversing about them. He would try to make me talk with a swollen mouth and air sucker in my mouth only to make fun of how I was speaking. he knew I never could shut up unless I was numb and it was torture not being able to voice my opinions. No matter what I needed over the years, he always fit me into his busy schedule. My family still went to him faithfully and had I been in the area, I would have too. I hated the dentist, but I adored Dr Little.
my heart aches upon hearing of his passing and I actually had a knot in my tummy all day. being in the dentist chair as much as I've been you get to have a more personal relationship with your dentist, and he would always give me the root canal bad news with a brighter side attached.
He will forever be missed by me and my family and I am praying that your family stay strong for one another during these rough times.

My love and prayers are with you, Mindy, and also with your family.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

May warm and loving memories serve as a flame to guide you through these difficult days. The flame may flicker from time to time, but may it remain a strong reminder of yesterday's blessings and offer hope for peace of mind, heart and soul in the future.
