Marshall Panzke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Marshall Panzke announce his passing on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the age of 75. Marsh passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short illness.

Marsh is survived by his wife, Nancy, his brother, George (Diana) Steward, his sister-in-law, Patricia Chmielewski, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Josephine, and his siblings, Robert Steward, Leona DeFrates, Annette Miehlich, Charles Steward and Patricia Smyth.

Marsh was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1947. He grew up in the Bucktown neighborhood, and graduated from Pulaski School and Tuley High School. In 1972 he married his sweetheart, the former Nancy Chmielewski. Marsh was the beloved husband of Nancy for 50 happy years.

Marsh spent 30 years repairing amusement games such as pinball machines and juke boxes for the Hi-Fi Music Company in Chicago.

In 1999, Chicago winters became too much and he and Nancy moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i where they lived for many years before settling in Orlando. Marsh was a well-known friendly face to Costco customers in Kailua-Kona and Winter Park, where he worked for several years.

Marsh was an avid basketball and football fan, rooting for the Bulls and the Bears even in bad years. Marsh loved classic rock. In Hawai'i Marsh started to make garden stepping stones as a hobby that he was still enjoying in December. Marsh was happy puttering around in the garden, but he hated mowing the lawn. He enjoyed working jigsaw and word puzzles and was a casual gamer. Marsh loved movies and was an avid reader, never skipping a day, devouring mystery, science fiction, historical and alternative history novels.

Marsh had a wonderful sense of humor and his blue eyes would twinkle when he laughed or smiled. He was a funny, kind, generous, humble man who will be loved forever and deeply missed by many.

Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in Marsh's memory, the family requests that memorials be made to one of Marsh's favorite causes, Feed America (www.feedingamerica.org) or to another food bank of your choice.
