Martha Federman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2025.
Martha Federman died peacefully surrounded by family on June 30, 2025. She was born in Linz, Austria on April 8, 1927 to Dr. Vincent Fink and Thekla Bodingbauer. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Jenny Federman, her son, Peter Federman, and her grandchildren, Sophia Bristol and Stephen Bristol. Martha was a witness to and survivor of World War II. During the war, she helped Jews cross from the Russian zone into American zone with the help of an American soldier who demanded a date with her in return for his help. This ultimately became her first husband. She moved to America in 1946 to pursue her dream of becoming an Opera singer. Due to luck, talent, and years of hard work, Martha's dreams came true, and for many years she traveled all over America and Europe as an opera singer. It was at one of her performances that she met her husband Henry Federman, the creator of the fashion watch industry as we know it today. Martha embraced life as the wife of a busy CEO and decided to forgo her opera career. After Sheffield closed, Martha and Henry founded Eurotime, a small watch manufacturing business in their home in Forrest Hills. After Henry's death, Martha continued to operate Eurotime and grew it into a highly successful company that supported her family for many years.

She was an extremely driven and generous woman who loved to tell everyone amazing stories about the opera, the people she knew, and growing up in Austria throughout the war years. She had it all, lost it all, and rebuilt her life many times. Martha was a true inspiration to many, and very generous with her time, charity and wisdom. Family was the most important thing in the world to Martha. Of all she bore witness to, her three proudest moments were when her daughter graduated dental school, when her granddaughter graduated music school and law school, and when her grandson became a pilot.

Martha was born to pursue music and she left this world with her granddaughter playing guitar and singing for her. She passed in peace at home in Connecticut surrounded by family and her loyal pets. She loved her family very much, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she sing and play her favorite game Rummikub with the angels. A memorial is planned at 11am on Saturday September 20, 2025 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield, Connecticut. All are welcome and encouraged.

I am headed to a wedding at the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield and as I was trying to remember my happy childhood summers there I came across this death notice. I am so sorry for your loss!

I have fond childhood memories of Peter and Jenny and Martha Federman from the summers in the early 1970s when my family rented the house next door on Kellogg Rd.

Did I imagine Martha making homemade elderflower champagne and turning it into delicious popsicles?

Childhood memories are not necessarily reliable!

May her memory be a blessing!

I did electrical work for Martha in Forest Hills, when she gave me the wine she had bottled. My wife and I finally got to drinking it and really enjoyed it. I told her about Martha, so she googled her and found that she recently passed. My deepest sympathy to the family. Jim Goetz

Martha was a strong tenacious woman whom we should all admire and take note of in our own ways in today´s world. She was someone whom I looked forward to seeing during my visits and the same woman I´d run from since she could read our minds! Thank you for sharing your Mom with us all! It´s truly great so many years were shared with you and your children, who are now adults! This is the true blessing. As we pray for Blessings on her soul during this transition, please know you are all in our thoughts and hearts sending you strength to manage this tough time from the California coast to sunny Florida! Hugs and prayers Chrissi & Nikki
