Martha M. (Maus) Grafton, 89, of Manor Township, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015. Born Dec. 11, 1925, in Manor Township, to Hubert Alban and Mathilda Mary (Lux) Maus, Mrs. Grafton was a lifelong resident of the Ford City area except for the nine years she accompanied her husband, Lewis E. Grafton, to various Naval installations prior to his retirement. The Graftons were married March 15, 1958, in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Ford City. Prior to their marriage, Mrs. Grafton was employed as a glass cutter for 13 years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. in Ford City. She was a member of Christ, Prince of Peace in Ford City and was a member of the parish's prayer chain and the LCBA. Mrs. Grafton was a volunteer for Father Raphael at the health center in Kittanning and read for him at the monastery. She also taught CCD for seven years. Mrs. Grafton was an avid reader and previously participated as a tutor with the Armstrong County Literacy Council. She is survived by her husband, Lewis; their son, Michael L. Grafton, of Allegheny Township, and his wife, Christine D., their daughter Kathryn M. Holt, of Pittsburgh, their daughter, Kristine A. Shunk and her husband, Joseph W., of Hanover; and three grandchildren, Nicholas M. Grafton and wife, Yuliya, Courtney A. Stopansky and husband, Joseph, and Thomas W. Holt II. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy T. Slovensky and husband, Albert, of Ford City, and Mildred A. Cramer, of Confluence, Pa. Mrs. Grafton was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret Pivarnik; and her brother, Frank J. Maus. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Friday at the MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC., Ford City. Prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ Prince of Peace Parish with Father John Harold officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family requests donations be made to Ford City Public Library or Divine Redeemer School.
