Martha Hickman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2011.
Martha S. Hickman

Martha S. Hickman, 83, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Birch Gardens in Fishersville.

Born and raised in Riverton, West Virginia, she was a 62 year resident of Waynesboro. The daughter of the late Madeline Judy Simmons and Lester Clyde Simmons, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Ruth Simmons, Mary Pugh and Faye Nottingham; her three brothers, Wayne Simmons, Jake Simmons and Paul Simmons; and her husband, Robert Hickman.

She is survived by her two children, Robert Hickman and Amy Hickman; her sister, Nancy Poleo; and her best friend of 50 years, Mary Ann Batten.

She was a bookkeeper for Crompton-Shenandoah before marrying and becoming a homemaker and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a sweet country girl with a kind and gentle spirit and sparkling green eyes. She made the yummiest cookies and cared well for her family and friends. If Marthie isn't in Heaven, there simply isn't one.

Services will be private.

For their kind and compassionate care when we most needed it, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.

Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences on line at www.reynoldshamrickfuneralhomes.com.
