I met Martha at Crossroads Intl Student Center at the University of Chicago in 1973 while I was working there right after I returned from Senegal in the Peace Corps. We came friends. I am now going through my journals and came across Martha's letters to me - and immediately wanted t look her up - and to realize she has left this world (only physically) last year - so sad. What a life of literary excellence and such positive impact. I will look up her poetry. Can anyone send me an address where I can mail her letters? to her husband? family? Thank you. RIP. Hello Families. My condolences to you all and the family. I'm praying for the family. My name is Rosalind Dugas, a student of Professor Martha Modena-Vertreace Doody. Professor Doody was my English teacher in 2003-2004. I graduated from KKC in 2006 at the original location, on 6800 S. Wentworth Chicago, IL. I remembered when I decided to go to KKC I was so afraid, that I wasn't smart enough, or good enough to continue. I told Professor Doody that I was going to dropout of KKC and try it at a later date, but Professor Doody said, " Just believe in yourself", and "Don't quit" I remembered Professor Doody saying, " Rosalind you can do it". I really appreciate Professor Doody for encouraging me to continue my education at KKC. When I heard about Professor Doody passing today on Sunday November 13, 2022. I immediately looked online to see if there were any pictures of Professor Doody. Professor Doody name sounded so familiar, and when I saw the pictures I was really shocked, and really . I remembered everything like it was yesterday. I remembered all the information that Professor Doody taught me, especially, when she said, "Just believe in yourself". I loved her teaching styles. I began looking for my KKC ID. I found it. I'm looking for some of my graded assignments, hopefully that I find it. If I find it, then I will post in this session as well. I usually keep assignments that made a impact on my life. Hopefully I find it. Professor Doody most definitely was an excellent professor, who helped her students to achieved in that subject called, "English". Rest In Heaven Martha Modena Vertreace-Doody, you most definitely earned your "HEAVENLY WINGS" Thanks, so much, Rosalind Dugas
