So sorry to the Bushman family. I can say Mr. Bushman was one of the best people I have ever met. He was kind and generous. My favorite times as a kid was going to Jim's Diner for lunch with my dad and going there for dinner after football practice. He and Mrs. Bushman were always wonderful to the Mastromatteo family. So sorry for your loss. My favorite was the BLT with fries...RIP

Clark - I haven't forgot much and I do remember being about 16 years old and meeting your father and his advice regarding a small business. I remember him being insightful and encouraging. The last time I saw you was at Jay's funeral almost 30 years ago. Your parents were kind enough to have the wake at their place. They "stepped up" and that helped to facilitate a setting for us all to mourn the loss of Jay. I too pray that the family finds peace and comfort during this time. I also hope your life has taken you spiritually to a place that allows you to recognize that your father's passing is only temporary until you see him in heaven. You're in my prayers. Eric Clauson

Mary, David, Michael and Mallory and the Bushman family,

The gift of knowing Jim Bushman came when Mary met and married our son David. Jim was one of a kind
with more "giving gifts" than even he knew. We all were blessed to know him and consider him a friend. Jim was first and foremost a man of God but, also a husband, a father, a grand-father, an in-law, an
entrepreneur and a friend to many. He loved his God, his Sheila, his many friends and his employees. What an honor and privelidge to know Jim and learn about his life over the years. We are grieving, but happy he now really "Home".

To the Bushman Family,
The words that come to mind when I think of Mr. Bushman, as I always called him, will always be "First Class". Everything about him was geared toward making the people around him comfortable. What a kind man, with a contagious smile and laugh, always low-key when he was giving to others...In my eyes Mr. Bushman truly exemplified Christianity in action. Always a gentleman, with time enough always to stop and say hello to us when we were at his restaurant for lunch. As soon as guests entered the Bushman's house Mr. and Mrs. Bushman were there to greet all nine of us or sometimes less if my mom had only a few with her. Just entering their front door was a fun moment always, not certain if they were always up to seeing us, but they were always up and no one was more cool than the Bushman brothers.... My very best Easter Sunday's growing up were spent at the Bushman house....Am keeping all of you in my family prayers, but am so happy that Mr. and Mrs. Bushman are together with Bobby and most important, with Jesus our Lord.

2 Timothy 4:7 For Mr. Bushman:
I have fought the Good Fight; I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith.

W/Love. Peter

The Bushmans and so many families forged wonderful memories together in the Saint Joseph Lake Orion community through the late sixties and seventies, extending up to Jim's Family Restaurant and resounding everywhere through the years. We will always remember Mr. Bushman's thoughtfulness, his kindness, his ceaseless giving, and his laughter. A man after God's own heart, he is a giant in ours.

To the entire Bushman Family, my deepest sympathy. Your father left such a legacy. He was the ultimate gentleman one would ever meet. The memories he gave our families were unprecedented. We grew up alongside of your family and what fond memories we had at your home, so many times. Your father and mother were always so welcoming. Your father was a wonderful role model and above all, he was kind and forever generous, always with a smile.
Thank you Mr. Bushman, for your example you set.

To Jim, Clark, Nora and Mary: this is Mike Mastromatteo, closest in age to Mary, who was one year behind me. But you and moreso your parents were all a huge part of our familys' life in the 70s and 80s. I have many fond memories of my mother Ellen taking us to your home to hang out with Mrs Bushman and you, and my father taking us to the restaurant in Oxford where I remember Mr Bushman (and Jim!) in the kitchen. I remember sitting at the table, and then seeing Mr Bushman come out and do the rounds...he knew everyone in the restaurant and would check in to see how they were doing. He was like St Nick. I couldn't wait for him to get to our table. Your parents were truly full of grace and kindness. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Bobby. Probably the biggest tragedy of our childhood, I will never and have never forgotten him. It is comforting to know that your parents are now with him now. I can't imagine what they went through. I think that some parents love, and other parents eat, breathe, love and live their children. Your parents always struck me as the latter. What a wonderful day it is in that regard. Much love to all of you Bushmans. Sincerely, Mike
