Dad was a loving husband and father. He was also a great friend to all who knew him. Dad´s first love was family. It seemed like every weekend we were doing something together as a family or visiting our relatives. He also loved the outdoors. Growing up, we spent many weekends camping, boating, and fishing together. I remember going water skiing in the morning and fishing in the afternoon, to catch trout for dinner. Another fun family adventure was our annual trip to the mouth of the Klamath River during the salmon run. Sometimes we would camp right on the beach and build a campfire out of the driftwood. As his son, I remember the many times we went fishing together. We talked for hours waiting for the fish to bite. His insights, wisdom and knowledge never left me. He taught me honesty, integrity, empathy, and how to be the best darn handyman a person could be. The time we spent together was magical and I cherish those memories.

And to Mom, my heartfelt condolences go out to you. You are the heart and soul of this family. You provided the never-ending love and support Dad needed to allow him to live a long and joy-filled life. All throughout his life, and even at the end, Dad always told me how much he loved you and how he appreciated all the love and support you provided. Thank you for everything you do. I love you.

Because Dad served in the Army and saw combat during World War II, he is remembered with full military honors. He was a very proud veteran and reminisced about his service often. Dad was also blessed with a faith that was enduring and strong. His Christian upbringing inspired Mom and Dad to become active members of the Lutheran fellowship. I have very fond memories of going to church every Sunday with my family.

I would like to say a heart-felt goodbye to my father, Martin Henry Duehring. He lived a long and wonderful life, filled with family, love, fellowship, happiness, and joy. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his charm and enthusiasm. He always had a smile on his face. The relationships he developed were long-lasting and strong. Thank you for the memories, Dad, we love you and may you rest in peace.
Your son,
Craig

Martin made sure that his grandkids were doing good things in the world and were on the right path. He always did his best to make us laugh. I will always smile when I look up in the clouds knowing Grandpa is up there looking down at us with a grin on his face.

I am so sorry to hear of Martins passing. I grew up with the Duehring family as Christine was one of my best friends. Martin was such an amazing father and husband. (He even stepped in to take me to the father daughter dance when my own father wasn´t there) Such an incredibly deep and impactful memory for me. My heart goes out to all of you, Shirley, Craig Cheryl and Christine! Some of my best memories are with your family. You were all blessed to call him dad and husband.

As a young boy you taught me to fish and as a young man, you were a role model teaching me life skills that have served me well. Dad, you are my hero and my inspiration to have served a career in the Army. You certainly epitomized all the traits of the "Greatest Generation" and I am so very proud of you. I love you and I will miss you every day.

Martin was a great grandfather and proud veteran. We spent many holidays at grandpa and grandma's house, and he would often tell us stories about his time in the army. He was always nice and thoughtful, and lived a life dedicated to his family and his country. He will be deeply missed.
