In memory of
Janice (Harty) Lanou

Memories of my Uncle Marty go back nearly seventy years to the days when he was always frantically working on #329, the blue and white stock car, out on the front lawn at the farm in Barre. He would always be getting it ready for racing on the upcoming weekend or fixing the car after the fender benders and crashes suffered on the previous weekend. It seemed a pretty much full-time occupation!
Many years later he was frequently driving the back roads of Maine and New Hampshire while selling and trading his wares, often poking in barns and sheds as he went. Often this led to the discovery of forgotten, dusty Moxie memorabilia. Knowing that I collected these items, he would bring me back whatever he found. He's always in my thoughts as I look at the bottles, signs, soda fountain glasses and other pieces on display. Even without those reminders I could never forget my chatty, charming and eccentric Uncle Marty.

I remember one is those cross country road trips. We headed out for a 2 week adventure to a glass show in California. I believe it was the Arizona desert that you became ill, fever, chills. We had to leave the windows up and turn on the heat. It was so hot!! Thanks for showing me a small part of the world. RIP ❤

Meeting up with Marty and Arlene at the swap meets, long days but always fun selling (and trying not to buy) the collections, I remember these times well. The bond of husband and wife and pride for his family flowed from his entire being. Rest in peace uncle Marty.

So many memories of helping Grandpa (& Grandma) at all the flea markets selling tapes, brooms and little items. He would talk to everyone passing by. As an adult, I recall the morning I was traveling to Concord, NH for work and was *stuck* behind him on Route 202. And as of late, we have memories of him visiting us in VA. Grandpa brought Declan and Corbin hooey sticks and magnetic sticks. We were lucky to have him with us for so long! He will be missed. ❤
