Janet, just heard about Marty passing. We had a lot of fun while we were at the Readiness Group at Fort Jackson. He was a good soldier and friend.

Janet, I am so sorry for the loss of Marty. I learned of his passing very recently. I remember Marty when I arrived at Ft. Leavenworth in 2009. He and I became friends and enjoyed talking about our military careers, family, and of course, football. I'm glad I had a chance to spend time with Marty. One of the things that drew us together was the fact that we were both born and raised in Pennsylvania. One of my treasured memories as a child was fishing for trout and other fish with my father on weekends and during the summer. I'd gotten out of fishing when I joined the military. Marty was very gracious and introduced me back to fishing. We had a blast, meeting bright and early Saturdays, driving out to a lake, putting the boat in the water, and spending the day chatting and fishing. I'll miss him.

Unfortunately, with Marty being 12yrs older than I, we were not very close. I have few memories of when we were younger. I don't know how old either of us were, but I remember Marty having a motorcycle and giving me a ride from our house to a corner about 500ft away, and me screaming the whole way! I also remember being at his house when he was at Ft Stewart and being introduced to the comedy of Steve Martin on one of Marty's albums. Marty, Janet, and Josh visiting one Christmas, being snowed in, playing Monopoly and Marty calling Josh a "skunk." My kids still bring that up occasionally. My youngest, Bryan, has been trying to get to Kansas to go Bass Fishing with Uncle Marty, and will now miss out on that opportunity. We will be thinking of you often, and missing you. Prayers to all of you who loved Marty.

I only was with Marty a few times but know he was a wonderful guy. I stood up with Marty & Janet at their wedding and they were perfect together. I feel like Marty lived his life to the fullest & it was obvious that family & friends were an important part of his life. Just so sad that it all ended so soon. My thoughts & prayers are always with the family at this sad time XOXO
