Martin "Tack" Malise Sr.

Martin "Tack" Malise Sr., age 81, of Chardon passed away February 16, 2016 at David Simpson Hospice House in Euclid. Born April 10, 1934 in Commodore, PA to John Malise Sr and Susan (nee: Harchuck) Malise, he had been a longtime area resident.
Tack served in the Army National Guard prior to becoming a carpenter and member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #373.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening and will be remembered for his garlic. He made sausage, sauerkraut and cured his own meat. Tack enjoyed playing bass guitar, performing with his good friend Rudy Kershishnik and the Cleveland Lake Erie Button Box Club. He was a member of and served as an usher at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon. Tack will be remembered as being willing to help all.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara (nee: Metz) Malise of Chardon; children, Daniel of Olmsted Falls, Andrew of Mentor, Karen Pike of Chardon, Jim (Donna) of Painesville and Suzie (Jack) Cosgriff of Mentor; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Adam (June) of Eastlake, John (Delores) of Euclid, Mary Miller of Albion, PA, Jim (Karen) of Cleveland, Anna Pecek of Brooklyn, and Carol McKinney of Cleveland and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin "Marty" Malise Jr; siblings, Joseph, Raymond, Margaret Griffith, and Martha Valesky.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon, OH. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the church.
